About Me

I have been teaching 5th grade at The Wheatlands Elementary School since the 05-06 school year. I received my degree in Elementary Education from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. It has been my dream to teach 5th grade since I was 7 years old so, needless to say, I consider myself fortunate to come to school and realize my childhood dream on a daily basis.

When I was in grade school, my favorite subjects were Social Studies and Reading. I still enjoy Reading and learning more about history, particularly the Holocaust. My favorite hobbies are reading, scrapbooking, playing board and athletic games, and traveling! While in college, I spent three months living and studying in Vienna, Austria. While in Europe, I also had the privilege of visiting six other countries, which gave me the itch to travel anywhere I can both in the U.S. and internationally. I am also a Chicago Cubs fan!

In 2006 I married my sports-loving, very energetic husband whom I met while on a build for Habitat for Humanity during our college years at Augustana. Together we enjoy traveling, playing any kind of sport or game, seeing Cubs games when we can get tickets, and have even run a marathon together.

My favorite young adult author is Jerry Spinelli and my favorite children's author is Chris Van Allsburg.
